Abstract:Objective To analyze the clinical efficacy of expanded forehead flaps in repairing traumatic nasal defects, and to summarize the clinical experience of nasal reconstruction using expanded forehead flaps for traumatic nasal defects. Methods Twenty patients with post-traumatic nasal defects treated between September 2014 and December 2025 were retrospectively reviewed. Reconstruction plans were made according to defect size, local tissue condition, treatment compliance and general status. All 20 patients underwent staged repair with expanded forehead flaps. Results All flaps survived during follow-up of 4 months to 5 years. No infection, flap necrosis or implant rejection occurred. Nasal contour, airway patency and social recovery were generally satisfactory. Conclusion After individualized preoperative evaluation, expanded forehead flaps can effectively balance the external nasal morphology and nasal ventilatory function reconstruction for traumatic nasal defects, and has a relatively stable long-term clinical efficacy.
