Abstract:Vestibular physical therapy is a rehabilitation approach based on the principles of vestibular compensation and central nervous system plasticity.It is currently an important non-pharmacological treatment approach for clinical intervention of vestibular dysfunction. With the acceleration of life pace and the increasing pressure from daily life and work, the number of patients with vertigo and other uncomfortable symptoms is gradually increasing. Clinical observations indicate that that most of the vertigo symptoms of these patients are caused by dysfunction of the vestibular system. The vestibular system plays a pivotal role in maintaining human balance and spatial orientation. And once its function is abnormal, it will cause symptoms such as vertigo. In recent years, with the in-depth understanding of the mechanism of the vestibular system, vestibular physiotherapy has been widely applied in clinical rehabilitation, aerospace, sports training and other fields. This paper elaborates on the physiological functions and pathological mechanisms of the vestibular system associated with vertigo. This review summarizes the research advancements in vestibular physical therapy and its applications in different fields. It aims to provide references for relevant research and clinical practice.
