Abstract:Ear defects or deformities (such as congenital microtia, cup ear, cryptotia, and traumatic defects) significantly impact the patient’s appearance and psychological well-being. The key technical aspect of auricular reconstruction lies in the selection of scaffold materials. Beyond traditional costal cartilage, the development of artificial scaffold materials has provided a novel alternative direction for ear reconstruction. This article will systematically review the research and application progress of artificial scaffold materials in the field of auricular reconstruction in recent years, encompassing the types, properties, clinical outcomes, and future application trends of the materials, aiming to provide a comprehensive reference for clinical practice and research in the field of auricular plastic surgery.
