Abstract:The traditional clinical teaching mode places excessive emphasis on theoretical learning while overlooking the significance of clinical practice and doctor-patient communication. As a consequence, students are deficient in practical operation skills, and who are lack of communication abilities between doctors and patients. Taking the clinical teaching of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery as an illustrative example, this paper proposes a preliminary framework of the “theoretical analysis-role playing-doctor-patient communication” model. This teaching approach for undergraduate medical students is conducive to their transformation of theoretical knowledge into practical operation skills and the enhancement of their doctor-patient communication capabilities by the application and update of integrate scattered theoretical knowledge.
