Abstract:Objective To investigate the metabolomic characteristics of patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) based on urinary metabolomic, screen potential biomarkers, and analyze potential key metabolic pathways. Methods A total of 42 OSA patients were selected as the OSA group, while 40 healthy volunteers were chosen as the control (non-OSA) group. Urine samples from the two groups were collected and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Untargeted metabolomic analysis was performed to screen out differential metabolites and their main metabolic pathways. Results The GC-MS analysis and screening identified 22 differential metabolites, as well as 9 metabolic pathways that these differential metabolites were involved in. Conclusion The differential metabolites and metabolic pathways obtained through urinary metabolomic analysis can help to better understand the metabolic characteristics of OSA, and are expected to serve as potential urinary biomarkers for the prediction and diagnosis of OSA.
