Abstract:Objective To summarize the optimal surgical repair protocol through a retrospective analysis of the recovery of 112 patients with endoscopic repair of nasal septum perforation. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the data of 112 patients diagnosed with nasal septum perforation and undergoing surgical treatment in the 940th hospital of the joint logistic support force from January 2003 to July 2023. The patients were followed up for at least 3 months postoperatively. Comparisons of preoperative and postoperative subjective symptom scores and Objective nasal endoscopic sign scores were made and the application of two surgical approaches in perforations of different sizes was compared. Results Endoscopic septal perforation repair was performed in all the 112 patients. Follow-up revealed re-perforation or residual small perforation in 21 patients. Nine of the 21 patients underwent reoperation, one underwent three operations, four patients did not undergo reoperation due to lack of surgical willingness, seven patients were lost to follow-up after the operation, and the therapeutic effect was not definite. The remaining patients all achieved primary healing. There were statistical differences between the preoperative and postoperative subjective symptom scores and between the preoperative and postoperative Objective sign scores (P<0.05).Conclusion The optimal surgical method should be selected based on the size and location of the nasal septal perforation.
