Abstract:Hyperacusis has been defined as a reduced tolerance to normal sounds, which has a huge impact on patients' quality of life. The evaluation of hyperacusis is helpful to understand its severity and provide a reference for treatment. However, there is no comprehensive, effective, and standardized tool for hyperacusis assessment. As the most commonly used tool for clinical symptom assessment, the questionnaire has the advantages of simplicity, convenience, low-cost, and quantification. It has a great impact on the quality of life of patients. In recent years, more and more studies have explored the development of questionnaire for hyperacusis. This paper reviews the research purpose, source of items, scoring methods, and current usage of the common questionnaire of hyperacusis. The purpose of this paper is to provide reference for the clinical selection of evaluation tools of hyperacusis. It also provides a basis for further research on hyperacusis assessment tools.
