Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of repairing pulsing tinnitus caused by bone wall defect of sigmoid sinus with ear cartilage. Methods Seven patients with pulsing tinnitus caused by bone wall defect of sigmoid sinus underwent bone wall defect repair and sigmoid sinus constriction. First, the bone wall defect of the sigmoid sinus was exposed, and the cartilage of the auriculae cavity was inserted into the defect for repair. Four patients underwent mastoid approach and 3 cases underwent retrosigmoid approach. Results All the 7 patients were successfully operated. In all patients, tinnitus disappeared on the day of surgery, and there were no complications such as headache, vomiting, fever, vertigo, hearing loss and auricle deformity, etc. After 4 to 36 months of follow-up, 6 cases were cured and 1 case had obvious effect. Conclusion The use of ear cartilage to repair pulsing tinnitus caused by bone wall defect of sigmoid sinus is easy to operate, convenient to obtain materials, no need to increase surgical incision, small trauma, no postoperative auricle malformation, strong plasticity of ear cartilage, no rejection of autologous tissue, easy to survive. It is worthy of clinical application.
