Abstract:Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a chronic inflammatory disorder affecting the paranasal sinuses with complex etiology and pathophysiologic mechanism. With the advance of basic and clinical research, the diagnosis and treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis are gradually developing in the direction of individualization and precision. Surgical treatment is an important part of holistie therapy for chronic rhinosinusitis. Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS), with advantages of functionality and minimal invasiveness, is currently the preferred surgical treatment for chronic rhinosinusitis. However, the postoperative nasal cavity mucosa remains in an inflammatory environment, which can affect postoperative recovery if not handled properly. Clinical studies have confirmed that postoperative nasal irrigation can improve symptoms and promote recovery of the surgical cavity. Therefore, this paper reviewed the advances in postoperative nasal irrigation including solutions, methods and devices so as to provide reference for clinical practice.
