Abstract:Abstract:ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of accurate airway humidification on postoperative hemorrhage, pharyngalgia, mucosal edema and sputum viscosity in patients with lowtemperature plasma assisted Huvulopalatopharyngoplasty (HUPPP).Methods49 cases with HUPPP were randomly divided into three groups. In accurate airway humidification group, atomizing inhalation was carried out by AIRVOTM series apparatus using sterile water for injection. In oxygen atomizing group, oxygendriven budesonide nebulization was adopted and in control group, oxygendriven normal saline nebulization was used. The hemorrhage, pharyngalgia, mucosal edema and sputum viscosity were evaluated in 3 consecutive postoperative days in all the patients.ResultsCompared with the control group, pharyngalgia in accurate airway humidification group and oxygen atomizing group got both significantly reduced (both P<0.01). Besides, the improvements of mucosal edema and sputum viscosity in accurate airway humidification group were significantly better than those in the oxygen atomizing and control groups (both P<0.05).ConclusionAccurate airway humidification can reduce the complications such as pharyngalgia, mucosal edema and purulent sputum after HUPPP, and can promote postoperative recovery.
