Abstract:Abstract: Objective To explore the value of reconstruction technique of spiral (64 slice) CT in the diagnosis of tracheobronchial foreign body in children. Methods 24 cases of suspected tracheobronchial foreign body were examined with 64 slice CT. The reconstruction technique included multiple planar reconstruction (MPR), minimum intensity projection (MinIP), surface shaded display (SSD), Raysum, CT virtual endoscopy (CTVE), and volume rendering (VR). Results Satisfactory postprocessing images were obtained in all 21 cases with tracheobronchial foreign body. The location of foreign bodies determined by CT was completely accorded with those by bronchial endoscopy. The other 3 cases without foreign bodies were cured with antibiotics treatment. Conclusion With higher coincident rate than that of normal Xray film, reconstruction technique of spiral (64 slice) CT is very valuable in the diagnosis of tracheobronchial foreign body.
